Staying healthy while busy with #mumlife

Staying healthy while busy with #mumlife

Hey there!

.

My name is Tash, I’m a full-time mum with a busy 10 month old boy and I’m also expecting baby #2 in August. As well as being a mum, I work a part time business from home in the health and wellness industry. This is something I am extremely passionate about because our own wellness should be our number 1 priority (yes, before children! We need to look after ourselves before we can look after others) and my “job” is coaching others with their own health and wellness journey, supporting them along the way.

.

Our health and what we put into our bodies tends to become less of a priority the busier our lives get. We wake up, rush out the door to work or as a mum, you go straight into putting that little one first, making sure they are looked after and mostly end up too ‘busy’ to make time for breakfast. Lunch is another one we don’t pay much attention to, when you work full time and you only get half an hour or an hour for a lunch break you want to make the most of it and having a quick lunch helps you enjoy the rest of your time, even if your lunch choice leaves you feeling bloated or sluggish for the rest of the afternoon. As a mum, it’s very easy to forget that middle of the day meal when you’re in between baby’s naps, housework and making them lunch, but the result of not having lunch is the same as having something not so nutritious – you’re left feeling sick from being over hungry and more than anything ready for a nap!

.

As a result of either skipping meals or making quick decisions on crappy food throughout the day, we can’t wait for dinner and end up stuffing our faces until we are so full we have to undo that top button. Then we sleep and repeat. We humans are creatures of habit and breaking that habit can be hard, but I promise you, it can be done.

.

Me? My breakfast used to be coffee, morning tea was biscuits, lunch was hot chips with cheese and gravy, and dinner I ALWAYS ate too much of. Making the change to a healthy lifestyle wasn’t overnight, it took work, but it has been the most rewarding thing I have done for myself and for those around me because I know, I’m a better person. I have now incorporated the Herbalife Nutrition products into my daily diet, and before you think “diet” – let me tell you, a diet is just what food we consume, whether it’s a healthy diet, unhealthy diet, vegan diet etc. we are all on a diet.

.

For some reason we think ‘healthy’ isn’t fast, and I suppose when you think of fast food we think of McDonalds and not a nice wholefood meal. But in the last couple of years I have learnt that healthy IS easy and fast, we just have to be willing to change the way we think. For me, it is easy to place an online order of my Herbalife products, get them delivered to my door and have them ready to consumeIt is easy to choose healthier snacks and drink more water, because the more I nourish my body the less it craves bad food.
.

So especially now as a mum, as well as being pregnant, it is easy for me to fall behind or make excuses, but I’ve learnt how much my body needs to be nourished in order for me to have the energy I need to keep up with my son, the health to keep my baby growing and to keep my mental health in a good place. So no excuses, I make my health a priority because I know if I don’t I’m allowing the day to run me and not me run the day.
